An update long overdue – Aathira
Been almost a month, and the present situation is as follows:
Weight: 70kgs
Activity level: Gym regularly for 45mins of which there is just 20 minutes of cardio and then followed by stretches and then weights.
Food: Here comes the bad/ horrible part.
Yesterday I had an amazing unlimited kebabs buffet dinner. (Yes, I just had to relive the greatness of that buffet). So now thats done, I have been having almost every week day meal at home, with as little oil as possible and crackers and cereal snacks in between. Mostly vegetarian too, except the weekends where it is time to make up for the whole week!
Next week plan is to keep put with the gym schedule, and get in some badminton time too if permissible in the evenings. And I hope to make my next update only when th scales read 68 kgs …. whenever that is :(
I just read WSW’s post and I am thinking, am I taking this weighing scale bit a tad too much? I know for one, atleast 3 people have told me that I have lost weight and am looking better. But I want to look fab!
i woudld do weights first.
I have started doing weights first.. which takes about 15-20 mins and then after that I do the elliptical for 10 mins.
Now that I think thats a measly bit of workout.. I should do the cycle also for 10 mins starting tomorrow.
ugh kebabs! I hope you are doing fine these days and you have already reached your mark.
I don’t understand why you would complain about eating kababs. There’s protein and animal fat, which are essential parts of the diet. Especially if you’re working out.
The concept of removing dietary fats from the diet was only popular in the 90s. We’ve learnt so much about food metabolism since then. The real problem for excess body fat is the carbs in your diet, not the fats.
And I agree with Roop Rai, do your weights as a priority. Your cardio exercise is only a short term way of losing any body fat. A more long term approach is to do compound exercises (squat, deadlift, lunge, bench, pull up, etc.) with heavier weights. These will charge your metabolism and your hormones, and you’ll start to burn more calories over time.
Good luck!

To echo Chad’s comments, weights first then cardio. One, it’ll be safer as your arms and such won’t be tired from the cardio, then trying to hold up heavy weights over your face. And two, the more productive your strength workout is (by not being tired,) the more lean muscle mass you could potentially add.
